Londolozi

Holidays to South Africa feature luxury safari experiences at lodges like Londolozi which is situated on the Sand River at the heart of the Sabi Sand Game Reserve within the Greater Kruger National Park. Wild animals move freely across this vast space, with white rhino and lion concentrations among the highest recorded on the African continent. Breeding herds of elephant and buffalo roam throughout Londolozi, yet it’s the intimate and frequent leopard sightings Londolozi is most famous for. Five exquisite camps boasting luxury accommodation, stunning views, and exceptional cuisine means you will have a hard time deciding which camp to choose for your dream African safari adventure.

Varty Camp

The campfire has burned at Varty Camp for over 90 years, making it the symbolic heart of Londolozi. Comprised of eight Chalets and two Superior Chalets this original camp is a showcase of rock walls, waterfalls, interwoven vines and wild river view backdrops. Your luxuriously appointed suite comes with a secluded outdoor shower which means you have the freedom to bare all and be at one with nature. Take a dip and recline next to your private sun-splashed swimming pool by day and when the sun sets, enjoy outdoor dining followed by a spot of heavenly stargazing from your sala (contemplation deck), a timber platform raised off the ground nestled under the shade of an ancient riverine forest. Also found within Varty Camp is the Healing House where an array of wellness treatments and facilities are available. The charming and historic “original Sparta Camp” is also located in the heart of Varty Camp where Londolozi began in 1926.

Facilities

Many Londolozi guest activities can be found within the surrounds of Varty Camp. These include the guest gym, the Londolozi Photographic Studio and Living Boutique. Guests from all camps are invited to make use of these facilities as well as the Yoga Deck, situated next to Founders Camp.

Activities

Life at Londolozi is dictated by the seasons; the vegetation and the animal behaviour shift with the rains of summer and the chill of winter. Rise before first light to join the early game drive – your every sense will be rewarded. As the sun rises, the booming snorts of hippo fill the air, while lions may be spotted in pursuit of the last traces of nocturnal prey. On returning from the drive and restoring yourself with a hearty breakfast you can either retire to the sanctuary of your chalet or indulge in a myriad of bushveld activities. Take a guided bush walk or create award-winning photographs in the Photographic Studio. Set off on the Village Experience or the Good Work Foundation Community Experience. If you are into health and wellness take a daily yoga class on the Yoga Deck or treat yourself to a heavenly massage or therapy treatments in the Healing House. If you love to shop, indulge in some Boutique retail therapy. Your evening game drives are a feast for the senses. Drink in all the postcard images around you: the bare thorn tree, silhouetted against a vast red sunset as the first glimmering stars appear.
