The Cape Winelands

The Cape Winelands are responsible for some of the finest wine varietals in the world. Every bottle is evident of the century-old heritage of each wine farm as well as the perfect climate in which to create Sauvignon, Chenin, Chardonnay, Pinot, Cabernet and Merlot, to name but a few.

The most popular wine valleys are on opposite ends of Cape Town, however all share the same sunshine that allows its grapes to mature to just the right level of perfection – be it for a light body or an aroma that lingers long after the cork has been discarded.

Constantia Valley is home to nine award-winning wine farms that are shaded by oak trees and steeped in a rich history that includes the likes of Simon Van der Stel. All the wine farms boast sweeping vistas of the valley below and around them – the perfect view from which to enjoy a crisp glass of Chardonnay.

Stellenbosch and Paarl wine valley are home to hundreds of wine farms, each with something unique to offer. More inland than Constantia, the grapes here enjoy an incredibly warm climate – a warmth that can be enjoyed in the red wines in the area. Surrounded by small towns, the wines here are result of hard work and passion.

Its in this Helderberg (Somerset West) region that rolling verdant hills covered with vineyards await wine-lovers. Each of the towns have their particular wine expertise and its well worth the adventure to explore them.

While Franschhoek is renowned for its MCC Sparkling wine, Paarl is the true home of South African Pinotage. No matter how many bubbles you prefer or what varietal you’d like to try, the Cape Winelands won’t leave your inner sommelier disappointed.
