Mo & Rose

Boutique Hotel, Route 62

About

Driving the Robertson Valley Wine Route?  It ranks among the world’s longest wine routes, so you’ll need somewhere to lay your head.  Situated just outside Robertson itself, Mo & Rose is an attractive farm turned boutique guest house, with extensive gardens, eight bedrooms in old buildings lent a stylish update by young owners, and a renowned wine bistro.  The Langeberg Mountains loom scenically above and an air of restfulness pervades – perfect for a break from the road.

Accommodation

Those eight rooms are split between two locations.  Six are in the former farmhouse, pairing contemporary, airy design with enchanting vistas.  Garden Rooms face the greenery and Langeberg mountains from patios, while two privileged Pool Rooms overlook a private garden and pool.  A further pair of rooms occupy a cottage next to the restaurant, both split over two levels like a maisonette.  All come with air-conditioning, iPod docks and wi-fi, while those in the Superior and Luxury categories have baths and fireplaces.

Facilities

Occupying a beautifully-renovated barn, the Wine Bistro is open for delightful dinners.  Expect seasonal Cape Winelands cuisine with a European twist and a real dose of ‘Tischkultur’ – a friendly, country-style fine-dining experience.  Outside is the ‘Seekers’ Courtyard’: private gardens brimming with trees, aloes, and, predominantly, succulents.  Begun in the 1950s, it features hundreds of species under the vast African sky.  Pathways meander through, and over 60 bird species visit.

Activities

There is much to do in the area, from tasting and cellar tours to hiking, golf, rock-climbing, horse-riding and skydiving.  Ask the friendly staff or owners for suggestions, or to set up activities.

Child Policy

Two of the eight chambers can accommodate children.  One of the Cottage Rooms fits two adults and two children aged 6-12, while a Pool Room suits two adults and up to four children aged 0-12.

The Best of South Africa Travel map displays the locations of the destinations and accommodation that we have selected and visited; for each item, hovering over or clicking the marker will display a short summary and photo of that place or hotel, and hotel pricing. Follow the links in the info box to the full page listing which has much more information.

Note that the online map offers both a satellite view (click satellite in the top right) and, for some locations, a street level view (Drag the person in the top left onto the map). These let you explore the country; and when you wish to explore in person, or if you have any questions about the places you see, give our staff a call, or request a quote. Our staff regularly visit the places and accommodation that we feature.

When you book a holiday with us we will provide full driving instructions for reaching your accommodation, where necessary; these can be used by yourself, or you could enjoy the luxury of a driver. Alternatively we will arrange private (car rather than coach) transfers for you; helicopter transfers are also possible for some destinations.
