12-night Safari, Garden Route, Winelands & Cape Town

Day 1

Welcome to South Africa! You will be meet at your aircraft with your name on a paging board and assisted through immigration, baggage collection and customs. You will then be shown to your connecting flight to Port Elizabeth (flight approximately an hour and 20 minutes). At Port Elizabeth Airport you will be met and shown to the check in area for your private light -aircraft transfer to Kwandwe Private Game Reserve - near Grahamstown. (approximately 30 minutes). You will spend 3 nights at Kwandwe in the Great Fish River Lodge on a full board basis plus game drive activities at outlined.

Day 2

Enjoy a morning and afternoon/evening game drive in open safari vehicle, big game walking safaris, guided bush walks, fishing or visit and volunteer at the Mgamabele Community Centre.

Day 3

Today you might like to embark on a 3-4 hour Save The Rhino Drive, with a specialist ranger and tracker team. Learn about the habits of this threatened species, the issue of rhino poaching as well as Kwandwe's own conservation programme. The activity ends with drinks(additional charge applies). Photographic Safari and Photographic Workshops are also available at an additional charge. Rhino Darting is also an additional activity available. The experience offers the opportunity of guests to participate in exciting rhino-darting and notching programme, under the supervision of experts. You might like to enjoy an in-room treatment by one of our fully trained therapists.

Day 4

This morning you will return to the Kwandwe airstrip for your private transfer to Port Elizabeth airport. Here you will be met off your flight and escorted to your awaiting vehicle for a transfer to Plettenberg Bay. (approximately 1.5 hours drive). Check into The Plettenberg where you will stay for 3 nights in a luxury double room on a bed and breakfast basis.

Day 5

Your hire car will be delivered to your hotel this morning. Spend the day exploring the local attractions including Natures Valley, Tsitikamma Nature Reserve or simply relax and enjoy the tempting swimming pool, spa and beaches around Plettenberg Bay.

Day 6

Today drive to the sleepy coastal town of Knysna, a 20 minute drive away and enjoy a wander around the shops and galleries in the colourful and friendly harbour. Additional activity includes a sunset cruise on a luxury yacht, a visit to the famous Knysna heads or 18 holes at the Pezula Golf Course or lagoon.

Day 7

Today you will drive the 4 hours from Knysna to Franschhoek along the beautiful Garden Route. Your consultant will discuss the various route options available. Check into the world-renowned Le Quartier Francais in a Garden Suite for 3 nights on a bed and breakfast basis. Tonight you will dine at the Tasting Rooms, one of South Africas finest restaurants.

Day 8

Enjoy a full day in the winelands on a private tour. Your consultant will help to map out a route that we think you will enjoy, taking in gorgeous vineyards and sensational restaurants, or gourmet picnic sites. Watch the sun set over the Franschhoek mountains from one of our favourite vineyards in the area, followed by a delightful meal in the well known restaurant.

Day 9

If you are up for an early morning and a little adventure, you can chose to embark on a day of boat based whale watching in Gaansbaai, which is approximately 2 hours away. Alternatively, spend the day relaxing at the pool, with breathtaking views of the mountains and rolling vineyards. Maybe a little walk into town for a look at the boutique shops and galleries in the town. In Franschhoek, you are spoilt for choice of world class restaurants in which to dine. Our consultant will help you narrow down some options.

Day 10

Today you will leave the Franschhoek valley and drive through some spectacular little towns to your next destination, The 12 Apostles in Cape Town. Check in to your sea-facing suite for 3 nights on a bed and breakfast basis. Time and weather permitting, enjoy a trip up to the top of Table Mountain. Your car hire will be collected from the hotel the afternoon.

Day 11

Enjoy a full day private tour of the Cape Peninsular taking in all the famous sites such as Hout Bay, (boat trip to Seal Island additional), Chapman's Peak Drive, Cape Point, Simon's Town, Fish Hook and Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens.

Day 12

On your final day in Cape Town, walk in the footsteps of Nelson Mandela and experience first hand his long walk to freedom. If you haven't already, you can also take this opportunity to go up to the top of Table Mountain. A private transfer will take you to the airport and assist with your baggage and check in.
