Biggest are the Suites, with freestanding tubs and private gardens, and then the secluded Garden Rooms.

Facilities

Languish in the luxury spa with a massage or Terres d’Afrique skin and body treatment, or soak up some African sun by the main pool. Most relaxing of all might be stroll through the glorious five-acre gardens.  The tennis court makes a more active distraction, or you could test out the well-equipped gym or hire mountain bikes. Later, scoff local plates in the rustic dining room or outdoor boma, then make for the cocktail bar.

Activities

Wildlife areas surround Ghost Mountain Inn, including Mkhuze Game Reserve where walking safaris are possible, and the excellent Hluhluwe–Imfolozi Park with a remarkable population of the endangered Rhino. The Inn offers game drives to both, plus cruises on Lake Jozini where you can watch elephants swim.  Other options include visiting a local Zulu homestead and learning stick fighting with local boys, hiking to the top of haunted Ghost Mountain itself or trying to spot some of the area’s 400 bird species.

Child Policy

Children are made exceptionally welcome, separate activity programmes for 5-10-year-olds and those aged over 11. The former can go on nature treasure hunts and face-paint; for the latter there’s canoeing and campfire cooking classes.  A games room has table tennis and a movie screen, and there’s babysitting available.

The Best of South Africa Travel map displays the locations of the destinations and accommodation that we have selected and visited; for each item, hovering over or clicking the marker will display a short summary and photo of that place or hotel, and hotel pricing. Follow the links in the info box to the full page listing which has much more information.

Note that the online map offers both a satellite view (click satellite in the top right) and, for some locations, a street level view (Drag the person in the top left onto the map). These let you explore the country; and when you wish to explore in person, or if you have any questions about the places you see, give our staff a call, or request a quote. Our staff regularly visit the places and accommodation that we feature.

When you book a holiday with us we will provide full driving instructions for reaching your accommodation, where necessary; these can be used by yourself, or you could enjoy the luxury of a driver. Alternatively we will arrange private (car rather than coach) transfers for you; helicopter transfers are also possible for some destinations.
