About
One of the Winelands’ most bijou estates – as its name alludes – friendly and family-run La Petite Ferme commands a regal position halfway up the Franschhoek Pass, with incredible views over Franschhoek to the handsome valley below. First came its applauded vineyard, then an equally well-received restaurant; now a growing accommodation portfolio allows lucky guests to enjoy privacy, prestigious plonk, pools and perfect service with those giddy vistas.
Accommodation
Combining luxury with rustic cosiness, the five Vineyard Suites sleep 2 people and seduce with kingsize beds, (some four-posters) roof beams, freestanding tubs and private plunge pools. They’re situated to soak up afternoon sun and reached via winding estate pathways. Adjacent to the restaurant, a further four Manor House rooms come with stunning bathrooms and share a large swimming pool. The Manor House can also be booked in entirety but also works well individually or as two two bedroomed self contained suites.
Facilities
The eponymous restaurant – named one of the world’s ‘Best Value’ establishments by Conde Nast Traveller, no less – serves breakfast, lunch and supper. Using a sun-soaked veranda when possible, its innovative cooking blends Asian influences with African ingredients. All dishes pair with the farm’s own wines.
Activities
Daily cellar tours are available at 11am by advance appointment. Tastings, bike tours and guided walks can also be easily arranged.
Child Policy
Children can be accommodated in selected suites, upon prior arrangement, and there are special lunch menus. Kids under two stay free of charge, with cots available.
The Best of South Africa Travel map displays the locations of the destinations and accommodation that we have selected and visited; for each item, hovering over or clicking the marker will display a short summary and photo of that place or hotel, and hotel pricing. Follow the links in the info box to the full page listing which has much more information.
Note that the online map offers both a satellite view (click satellite in the top right) and, for some locations, a street level view (Drag the person in the top left onto the map). These let you explore the country; and when you wish to explore in person, or if you have any questions about the places you see, give our staff a call, or request a quote. Our staff regularly visit the places and accommodation that we feature.
When you book a holiday with us we will provide full driving instructions for reaching your accommodation, where necessary; these can be used by yourself, or you could enjoy the luxury of a driver. Alternatively we will arrange private (car rather than coach) transfers for you; helicopter transfers are also possible for some destinations.
