12-Night Teen Adventure

This itinerary has been specifically created for families with teens who want a little bit of adventure on their holiday.

3 nights at Little Garonga in the Makalali Conservancy on the outskirts of the Kruger National Park.  The perfect place for a family to enjoy the intimacy of the bush, yet with their own space.

3 nights at Tsala Treetop Lodge, perched amongst the tops of the forest, these spectacular tree houses boast incredible views of the forest and their own plunge pool.

3 nights at Boschendal Farm, the perfect place for a family to enjoy hiking, horse-riding, mountain biking, picnics and swimming in the farm lakes.

3 nights at The Dock House, quite literally on the doorstep on the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town.

Board Basis:  Bed and Breakfast throughout, apart from Fully Inclusive at Little Garonga.

The price is based on two children 12+ with their own inter-leading room / suite.

Dates: The price is based on UK school holiday times, specifically May half term and July/August school holidays.

Accommodation is in 5 star deluxe hotels and lodges, and we have taken into account the most interesting and different options to appeal to this age group.  This itinerary involves exploring four very different regions of South Africa, including the Kruger area, The Garden Route, The Winelands and the city of Cape Town.

The itinerary can be changed around, shortened, lengthened and there are plenty of other hotel options to choose from.  These are simply the 'creme de la creme' in our tried and tested opinion for this age group.

Flights: No international flights have been included, but the price does include two internal flights per person.

Car Hire: The price includes 8 days Group C (Toyota Corolla Quest) car on a Premium Package basis (Super Cover insurance).

Excursions: Excludes all excursions.

PLEASE NOTE:  All prices are subject to availability.

Day 1

You will be met at the door of the aircraft and escorted through customs and baggage claim and taken to your awaiting flight to Hoedspruit Airport. You will be met at Hoedspruit Airport and taken by private transfer to the Lodge (approx 1 hour). Check into Little Garonga for 3 nights on an all inclusive basis in the two bedroom Hambleden Suite. Embark on the first of your game drives this evening, enjoying sundowner drinks at sunset and continuing after dark on a night drive.

Day 2

The early morning game drive is followed by a hearty South African breakfast on return to the lodge. Spend the day by the pool, or enjoy a private game walk with the family and an armed guide and tracker. Tonight you will spend the night under the stars on a specially made sleep-out platform. Listen to the lions roar and hyenas yelp as you gaze over the infinite stars in the milky way above.

Day 3

Watch the sun come up over the African bush on the early morning game drive, then relax and read a book by the pool for the day.

Day 4

After the early morning game drive and breakfast you will be transferred by private vehicle back to Hoedspruit Airport. From here you will fly into George Airport on the Garden Route with a stop over in Johannesburg. Collect your car from George Airport and drive the 1 hour to Tsala Treetop Lodge. Check into Tsala Treetop lodge for 3 nights on a bed and breakfast basis in a Villa. Spend the afternoon by your private plunge pool looking out over the incredible forest below.

Day 5

Spend the morning on board a powerful rib, looking for whales, dolphins, seals and great white sharks from Knysna harbour.

Day 6

Enjoy a day of mountain biking in the forests around Nature's Valley, Knysna and Plettenberg Bay. Hire a private guide to make the most of your day.

Day 7

Depart after breakfast on a 5 hour drive down to the Cape Winelands. Check into Boschendal Farm for 3 nights on a room only basis (breakfast can be delivered!) in a 2 bedroom Orchard Cottage. Head down to the Bistro for dinner and sample their range of amazing burgers all reared on the farm. Shop at the Deli for breakfast goodies, and pick up some freshly baked bread from the Deli. You can also get a hamper delivered in the morning for breakfast. Mum and Dad can pop into the wine shop on the farm to stock up for a night on the verandah enjoying the stars.

Day 8

Mountain Bikes will be delivered to your door this morning. Following your breakfast of farm produced cheese, charcuterie, freshly squeezed juice and bread - head out on a day trip to explore the mountains above the cottages. Swim in the farm lakes and enjoy the spectacular scenery.

Day 9

Enjoy a day of being driven around all the best wine farms in the area, sampling cheese, chocolate, olives and of course a little bit of wine for Mum and Dad.

Day 10

Today you will leave the beautiful Franschhoek Valley with its mountains and vineyards and head into the hustle and bustle of Cape Town city centre. Check into The Dock House for 3 nights on a bed and breakfast basis in two interleading rooms. As the V&A Waterfront is right on your doorstep - it would be rude not to explore its quaint shops, restaurants and enjoy the street performers. Take a sunset cruise around the harbour to Camps Bay and watch the sun setting over the Atlantic Ocean.

Day 11

Enjoy some time by the lovely swimming pool at The Dock House, before heading out for a hike up Lions Head and a tandem paraglide down. If there is still some energy to be burnt off, head up Table Mountain in the rotating cable car, and enjoy a great abseiling experience from the top.

Day 12

Enjoy a fun day out exploring the Cape Peninsular - activities include hiking, snorkelling, canoeing and stand up paddleboarding. Stop and have a swim with the penguins, or visit Seal Island on a boat from Hout Bay.

Day 13

As your international flight leaves later tonight, you have the whole day free to enjoy a day of discovering South African history by following in the footssteps of Nelson Mandela.
