The sleepy sea-side town of Hermanus is at the very start of The Garden Route, one of South Africa's most famous coastal drives, and is also home to the Cape's finest viewing points for whale watching.
One of the Garden Route’s two main resort towns – along with Knysna, further west – bustling ‘Plett’ is characterised by dreamy beaches and nearby Tsitsikamma Forest, a paradise for activity addicts, walkers and wildlife fans. Throw in excellent hotels, and Plett has every box ticked.
