12-Night Young Explorer

Day 1

You will be met at the door of the aircraft and escorted through customs and baggage claim and taken to your awaiting transfer to the Mount Nelson Hotel (30 minutes). Check in to the Mount Nelson Hotel for 3 nights on a bed and breakfast basis in 2 Junior Suites. Enjoy 3 action packed days in Cape Town with fabulous days out planned for the family including a day of swimming with penguins, exploring a submarine and digging for semi precious stones in Simonstown. A ride to the top of Table Mountain in a rotating cable-car is also a must. Your hire car will be delivered to the hotel this afternoon.

Day 2

Day 3

You will be collected from your hotel and taken for an action packed family fun day out, exploring the coves, beaches and coastlines of the Cape Peninsular. This trip is totally family orientated and will keep the little ones entertained and interested.

Day 4

After a hearty breakfast at the Mount Nelson Hotel, drive the 35 minutes out to Stellenbosch and check into The Spier Hotel for 3 nights on a bed and breakfast basis in a Signature Room. Enjoy the extensive grounds of this bustling working wine farm in the heart of the Winelands. Experience the magnificent eagle up close and enjoy wandering around the grounds with a packed picnic from the deli. Time by the pool is also a must. Stellenbosch offers easy access to other fantastic family attractions such as Butterfly World, The Big Cat experience at Vredenheim Winery, as well as pony rides, the Wine Tram and dozens of family friendly vineyards with adventure playgrounds.

Day 5

Visit Vredenheim Big Cat Sanctuary

Day 6

Take a ride on the famous Wine Tram, visiting a range of child friendly wine properties. Alternatively, book on a family friendly tour of the winelands with a private driver for the day.

Day 7

After your final breakfast at The Spier, make your way slowly up the Garden Route through Knysna and Plettenberg Bay to Nature's Valley. Check in to Kurland for 3 nights on a bed and breakfast basis in a Luxury Room with loft. Located just outside Plettenberg Bay in the stunning Nature's Valley area, Kurland Hotel, a polo and stud farm, offers wide open spaces, exceptional hospitality and luxurious accommodation in a stunning setting. Ideal for families who would like to spend as much time relaxing by the pool, as they would exploring the exciting beaches, forests and attractions of Plettenberg Bay and Knysna area.

Day 8

Spend the morning exploring the local beach, take a picnic hamper packed full of delicious treats from the kitchen. This afternoon, visit the Knysna Elephant Park and get up close and personal with these magnificent animals.

Day 9

Spend today exploring Knysna and all its family friendly activities. Take a boat trip on the lagoon, hire bikes and ride through the lush indigenous forests of Knysna or spend the day on a child friendly hike around the Robberg Peninsular.

Day 10

From Kurland, head up toward Port Elizabeth on an easy 3 hour drive to Riverdene Family Lodge just north of Port Elizabeth. Check in to Shamwari's Riverdene Family Lodge for 3 nights on a fully inclusive basis in a Luxury Room. This lodge caters incredibly well for children under 6, with welcome packs, kids play rooms and an adventure playground plus child minders 24/7. Special family safari drives are planned at particular times of the day, so that children under 6 can enjoy the delights of the wild without any concerns.

Day 11

Early morning game drives and later afternoon (sunset) drives are all included in the price here at Shamwari. Age dependent, take the children along, or leave them to have their own fun back at base camp, with bug hunts, quizzes, treasure hunts and mini bush walks taking place every day. Relax by the pool between game drives and enjoy the delicious food on offer.

Day 12

After your early morning game drive and a hearty farewell breakfast, make the 1 hour journey back to Port Elizabeth airport for your flight to Cape Town or Johannesburg to connect with your international flight.
